Sixty-three said they smoked to stay thin. Is there good evidence that more than 30% of the teen girls smoke to stay thin? The alternative hypothesis is:

Previously, an organization reported that teenagers spent 4.5 hours per week, on average, on the phone. The organization thinks that, currently, the mean is higher. Fifteen randomly chosen teenagers were asked how many hours per week they spend on the phone. The sample mean was 4.75 hours with a sample standard deviation of 2.0. Conduct a hypothesis test. The null and alternative hypotheses are:

Hypothesis

仮説

a statement about the value of a population parameter, in case of two hypotheses, the statement assumed to be true is called the null hypothesis (notation H₀) and the contradictory statement is called the alternative hypothesis (notation H_a).

母数の値についての主張。2つの仮説を考える場合、真であると仮定する主張を帰無仮説（H₀）、それと矛盾する主張を対立仮説（H_a）と呼ぶ。
