acceleration the rate at which velocity changes

加速度(acceleration) 速度が変化する割合

average speed distance traveled divided by time during which motion occurs

平均の速さ(average speed) 進んだ道のりを、その運動にかかった時間で割ったもの

average velocity displacement divided by time over which displacement occurs

平均速度(average velocity) 変位を、その変位が起きた時間で割ったもの

dependent variable the variable that changes as the independent variable changes

従属変数(dependent variable) 独立変数が変わるのに応じて変わる変数

displacement the change in position of an object against a fixed axis

変位(displacement) 固定した軸に対する物体の位置の変化

distance the length of the path actually traveled between an initial and a final position

道のり(distance) 初めの位置から終わりの位置まで実際にたどった経路の長さ

independent variable the variable, usually along the horizontal axis of a graph, that does not change based on human or experimental action; in physics this is usually time

独立変数(independent variable) ふつうグラフの水平軸にとる変数で、人の操作や実験によって変わらないもの。物理ではたいてい時間
